Some of y’all may think I’m crazy but I only wash my hair every 7-8 days. I work out 5 days a week so between all the sweat from that, hair product builds up, and sleeping crazy on my hair, it can get really messy and gross during that time in between washes.
I’ve learned a few ways to refresh my hair in between and get it looking fresh, clean, and smelling good in no time. Wanted to share those tips with y’all today!

POST- GYM TIPS:
If you’re sweating every day, the biggest tip I have for after the gym, is to take your blow dryer and put it on the COLD setting (to minimize heat on your hair) and blow dry your hair again to soak up that sweat and dry your hair afterwards. I do this even if I only sweat a little bit!

PRODUCTS TO USE:
Next, products are huge to refresh your hair! Highly recommend a dry shampoo, heat protectant, and a good-smelling hair product to make it smell fresh. I recently came across Waterl<ss and had to try it. Their ‘no-residue’ dry shampoo is amazing because like it says… NO RESIDUE. Perfect for us girls trying to make our hair last longer.
I also wanted to mention this brand because I recently learned more about their brand as a whole. They started Waterl<ss to improve women’s “non-wash” hair days. In 2018, Cape Town, South Africa, announced they were months away from running out of water…. Waterl<ss provided the people of Cape Town with their products to help stretch their hair between wash days. Isn’t that amazing!? I love their story and had to share. Their hair care line is made for diverse types of hair and to clean AND condition it without water.
I dry shampoo my hair (just a little… don’t overload your head!) and then I add in a heat protectant. This is major for your hair to keep it healthy and shiny. Heat damages your hair so this helps protect it. Then I add in a couple of curls to add some body in my hair. If my hair is feeling dry, I’ll also spray the dry conditioner throughout my ends.
After that, I’ll tease it to give it volume and then I’ll spray a little perfume or this Waterl<ss Hair Refresher fragrance spray to make it smell good again. This helps mask any sweat smells too.

OTHER TIPS:
- Keep oils OFF your hair. I add oil to it right after the shower and that’s it. More oil will make your hair look greasy and weigh it down after a few days.
- Double wash your hair in the shower. I shampoo my hair, then shampoo again to REALLY cleanse my scalp. I also only condition my ends to keep moisture off my scalp (I will do a leave in treatment every other week to strengthen scalp though) which again helps to not weigh down my roots during the week.
- Sleep on a silk pillowcase. I swear this helps the way my hair styles, looks, and wears throughout the week.
