I need to bring back Workout Wednesdays! Not gonna lie, when Josh and I went through our move in July I was eating out, drinking every night, and NOT working out. I gained 8 pounds in a month from doing so! We joined a gym in August and I’ve been loving getting back into my workout routine and healthy lifestyle again. While I OF COURSE have given myself grace and not stressed about the weight gain, I’ve been working to get back to my goal weight while in a ‘slower’ season of life right now.
Today I wanted to share 3 ways I’m slimming down this Fall (in addition to my workouts 5x a week!) to maybe give y’all some ideas. If you’ve followed me on IG you’ve heard me talk about all 3!
3 Ways I’m Slimming Down
I’ve cut carbs before, did low fat then high fat, dairy free, all the things! Right now, I’ve realized gluten and dairy don’t really effect me (other than make me bloated every now and then in large consumptions). But I HAVE realized that sugar affects me way more than I’ve realized and my body loves to hold onto it. I’m currently working on not consuming as much sugar a day and opting for different desserts, meals, and alcoholic drinks with less sugar.
I started this thing a few weeks ago where I jump rope 3 mins a day! I call it the #dailyjump and it’s a great way to start or end your workout. It’s also great for days you don’t have time for a 45-min workout but the 3 mins of jump roping I always have time for and it gets my heart rate up. Benefits of jump roping:
- Improves heart health and stamina
- Helps with coordination
- Strengthens bone density
- Total body strengthening! I’ve felt it most in my calves but it benefits a ton of muscle groups
- Burns calories (better the longer you jump)
Lastly, as the weather cools I’ve been aiming to walk at least 1-2 miles a day with Marley! Walking is SO good for you and surprisingly really helps you slim down by decreasing inflammation in the body and reduces excess body fat.
Honorary 4th mention: Cutting back on alcohol.
Had to mention this 4th one but it doesn’t really count yet because I’m not great at it lol. I love a good glass of wine with my husband after a long day and I typically always drink socially on Fridays & Saturdays. HOWEVER, I always slim down faster when I cut alcohol so I’m aiming to drink way less this Fall….. (going to try).
